We are delighted to announce, after much hard work, that our new website is up and running. Take a look at www.brownsdomestics.co.uk where you can see what we do, a little bit of our history and a link to contact us. We also have a blog where you can read our latest tips and interesting articles. Watch out for new tips and articles.
As the year moves on, we are experiencing some very unsettling times. The cost of living is soaring again. Fuel prices have reached record heights, and we can see food prices rising quickly. In this country households throw away 6.6 million* tons of food a year. Much of this is caused by over buying in the weekly big food shop. I know I quite often buy too much and end up throwing away stuff which I probably shouldn’t have bought in the first place. A great fridge and freezer can help with this. Many fridges have zones that we neglect to use which keep different types of food fresher for longer. Freezers normally have a fast freeze compartment that we use for storage instead of freezing fresh food then moving it down the freezer. There is so much more to modern refrigeration. Whilst we no longer repair it, we do offer new fridges, freezers and fridge freezers and integrated ones too.
This week we have had several customers having problems with opening their integrated freezer doors. This does happen when the weather gets hotter. A trick is to open the fridge and slip your finger between the freezer seal and cabinet. This should allow air in and release the seal.
Another tip is to defrost your Frost-Free Freezer! Although they technically don’t need defrosting, ice build up in the fan can cause the freezer to behave as if its faulty. Always worth a try.
So, let’s think about what we are buying, not getting drawn in by end of aisle displays or bargains we don’t really need. And let’s check our manuals to see if we can keep food fresher for longer by using our refrigeration appliances to their optimum.
