February brings the rain...

“February brings the rain, thaws the frozen lake again *” is a poem I learnt at school to help remember the months of the year. It seems the months roll by very quickly! If February does bring the rain we may need to be using our tumble dryers a bit more.   They’ve changed a lot over the past few years with the advent of heat pump dryers. Quite a few manufacturers have gone away from condenser dryers and are now only selling heat pumps! 

Our first experience of using one of these was in a garage and it was, to be honest, a disaster! With only cold air to pull through the dryer took a very long time to dry and even needed putting back on twice. Plus, you had to dry a full load, and there was no way of drying only a few items. Hopefully they have improved since the first models, but I’ve yet to try!  Our son has one inside his house and that seems to work well, just takes longer but you get used to that.

Don’t forget to maintain the effectiveness of any tumble dryer it needs to be looked after. Always clean the fluff filter after every load and wipe the accessible fluff out of the filter slot regularly. Keep the condenser unit clean in condenser dryers and in heat pump dryers there is a mesh filter which needs to be cleaned in accordance with your manufacturer’s instructions.
